In January 2001 I was made Shell Visiting Professor in the
Keyworth Institute
at the University of Leeds.
My role is rather like being a non-executive director of a
company. I provide an outside view, and support for specific
tasks, rather than say lecturing on a regular basis.
The Keyworth Institute was set up to provide a basis for interdisciplinary
research and interaction with industry. It is a collaboration
between the schools of engineering, computing, philosophy and
business studies. Other schools are joining.
I have become involved in two areas.
- The International Corporate Leadership Programme is a management
programme established for top students in the Keyworth schools.
I chair the Teaching and Learning Committee fro this programme.
- As a Campus Ambassador for Shell, providing support for Shell's
recruitment effort at Leeds.
My first visit to the University in this role was on the 24th
April. Here are some photos from that occasion.
